Exploring the Imprint of Life

After decades of working with the elderly and those with extra learning needs - and a life that gifted me with a shed load of 'experience' and challenges I began my counselling journey in 2011. Now, in 2025 I add to this 14 years of extensive research, interest and knowledge in trauma-recovery. Life experiences change us - sometimes it moves us forward and sometimes it keeps us stuck. I have had to dig deep in my own life to overcome battles that, to be quite frank, felt impossible at the time. I have tools that I picked up along the way and a deep understanding of human suffering and the impact on our functioning every single day. Passion that runs through my veins that drives me to support others to feel free from the chains of life's imprint and a light that I can hold at the end of your tunnel.

Person-Centred

"Imagine you're walking your own sacred path — sometimes it's clear, sometimes it's foggy, sometimes you’re wandering through a deep forest wondering, ‘Where am I even going?’

In this journey, you are the seeker, the soul doing the real work. I'm not a guru, not a guide with a map, and definitely not someone telling you where you should be.

I'm more like someone quietly walking beside you, holding a lantern.

I shine a gentle light on parts of the path you might not have noticed, reflect back the beauty and strength you may have forgotten, and simply stay present — especially when the night feels long.

You already have the compass inside you. I just help you navigate it more clearly."

DBT

"See your inner world as a sky that’s always shifting. Some days, it’s bright and clear — everything feels calm and manageable. Other days, clouds roll in fast, storms brew, and the winds can feel overwhelming.

Living with a diagnosis of BPD or feeling on an emotional rollercoaster (especially in relationships) can be like living with unpredictable weather — sudden downpours of intense feelings, gusts of anxiety, or flashes of anger that seem to come out of nowhere. It can be hard to know how to stay steady when the forecast keeps changing.

That’s where DBT comes in. It’s like learning to be your own weather forecaster and protector:

  • Mindfulness teaches you to notice the first signs of shifting weather — the small changes in your feelings before the storm hits.

  • Distress tolerance gives you your umbrella and raincoat — tools to stay safe and grounded when the emotional storm is raging.

  • Emotion regulation helps you find ways to clear the skies again, calming your inner weather so you don’t get swept away.

  • Interpersonal effectiveness is like knowing when to ask for shelter or open a window to let fresh air in — helping you communicate and connect even when the weather’s rough.

With these skills, you become someone who can move through your emotional weather with more confidence and care — not trying to stop the rain, but knowing how to dance in it and wait patiently for the sun."

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Somatic)

"Picture this: your body is like an old, magical radio — a bit quirky, a bit cosmic — always broadcasting signals.

But instead of songs, it plays sensations, little twitches, tightness, breath holding, goosebumps… the body’s way of saying, ‘Hey! I've got a story to tell!’

Sometimes the signal's fuzzy — maybe static from the past, or a survival pattern still looping like a Greatest Hits album from 1997. That’s okay.

My role? I’m kind of like your co-listener. Not the DJ, not the engineer, just someone helping you notice what’s playing and turn the dial slowly — without pressure — so you can hear your body’s station more clearly.

And sometimes, when the signal comes through — bam! — a moment of insight, a breath you didn’t know you were holding, or your shoulders suddenly saying, ‘Finally!’

It’s not about forcing a breakthrough — it’s about creating a space where your body can gently go: ‘Ahh, there I am.’"

Root-Cause

"Sometimes when life feels hard, we only notice the leaves — the symptoms, the feelings, or behaviors that show up. Maybe it’s anxiety, sadness, or patterns that keep repeating. It’s easy to get caught up trying to fix those leaves alone.

But Root Cause Therapy is about going deeper — like becoming a gardener who wants to understand what’s happening underground.

We gently explore your roots — your early experiences, core beliefs, and the hidden influences that shape how you feel and respond today.

When we understand the roots, we can nourish the soil — healing those parts that have been stuck or hurt for a long time.

This way, the whole tree — your life — can grow stronger and healthier, not just putting a bandage on the leaves, but creating lasting change from the ground up."

Systemic

"Visualise your life as a shimmering web — like a cosmic spider’s creation, or a dreamcatcher made from starlight and stories. You’re not just sitting in the middle of it — you are it, woven from the threads of your family, relationships, ancestors, culture, and the energies of people and places you’ve encountered.

Every strand connects to something or someone. Some threads are soft and supportive. Others feel tangled, sticky, or strangely heavy — like they’ve been pulling at you for lifetimes.

In Systemic Therapy, we gently trace those threads. Not to judge them, but to understand them.

Where did this thread begin?
Whose story am I carrying that may not be mine?
What happens if I loosen this knot, or weave in something new?

My role? Think of me as a fellow traveller with a lantern, helping you explore the web — not to cut it down, but to illuminate it. To help you see the patterns, shift the energy, and find your place in the greater design.

Because when one thread shifts with intention, the whole web shimmers differently."

CBT

"The way we think about ourselves, others, or situations can get a little foggy or distorted — like looking through smudged or cracked glasses. Those unclear lenses can make problems look bigger, feelings more intense, and choices harder.

CBT helps you notice the thoughts that might be clouding your view — those automatic, unhelpful ideas that pop up without you even realizing it.

Together, we work on cleaning those lenses by challenging and changing those patterns — helping you see things more clearly, realistically, and kindly.

As your vision clears, your emotions often feel steadier, and you can respond to challenges with more confidence and calm.

Think of it as giving your mind a fresh perspective — so you can move through life with clearer focus and less struggle."
